College Preparation Tips for Eighth Graders Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors

1)      Study hard to earn high grades (A strong GPA is most important)

2)      Take the most advanced courses the student can perform well in

3)      Become active in community service

4)      Refine extra curricular activities

5)      Take on leadership roles

6)      Search for scholarship possibilities

7)      Do SAT and ACT test preparation

8)      Pursue nominations for the military academies in the junior year

9)      Compile a quality reading list (Colleges often want to know the books you have read)

10)  Use the summer months for enrichment programs and employment

11)  Videotape athletics and performing arts samples

12)  Organize all awards and record details from all of the above
