Trinity FC

The Trinity Fútbol club traveled to Davidson College on Saturday, October 21 to watch Davidson and Georgia Southern play a men’s match. While the score was not what we wanted, Davidson lost 1 – 0, everyone had a great time. Dr. Veto, who was visiting Davidson for Parents Weekend and his daughter Rachel, Davidson Class of ’07, joined us at the match for awhile. Blake Bersinger, a senior who is considering Davidson, was impressed with everything that Davidson had to offer. Mr. Duttweiler, Davidson Class of ’68, gave us a tour of the beautiful Davidson campus. Saturday was also Andrew Moseley’s birthday and we all celebrated during dinner.

Outdoors Club

Swim with the Manatees

January 8, 2005

Members of the TCS Outdoors club get ready to snorkel and do a "float" down the Rainbow River in Crystal River Florida as part of the "Swim with the Manatees" trip.

Outdoors Trip

The Outdoors Club took a trip to Long Creek, SC last weekend.  We drove up Friday night and stayed at a really nice bed-n-breakfast.  We played cards until about 2 AM and then woke up at 8.  We left for rafting around 9 AM.  We finally got to the river at about 11, after carrying the rafts almost a mile down the mountain.  There were 6 rafts in our group, 2 from TCS.  One raft was self-guided and frequently got stuck on rocks and went down many rapids backwards.  The weather was not too cold, but we were glad we had rented wetsuits.  It was a very fun trip, especially the Class IV Bull Sluice rapid.  We left Wildwater around 6 and did not return to Florence until 12:30, after an excellent dinner at Ryan’s

Katie Stoughton, Jennifer Jones, Lauren Scott, and Carolyn Vaught on the Bull Sluice.

interested in the art of Anime, or Japanese animation. Anime Club
activities include viewing Anime movies, creating story lines for our
own Anime comic strip, discussing and planning for a field trip to an
upcoming Anime convention, and designing a club t-shirt.

Soccer Club: Trinity FC

The Soccer club is an organization for Soccer enthusiasts.  Coach Gunn sponsors this club.  The Soccer club takes part in many fundraising activities for the girls and boys soccer teams.   This club is fairly new to Trinity.  In the previous year that it was in existence this club was mainly active in the girl’s spring soccer season to help raise money for new uniforms, which they successfully accomplished.  This year Coach Gunn is planning a trip for the club to see a MLS match in Charlotte.

Outdoors Club:

Coach Gunn and Coach Kaye sponsor this club. The club encourages students to take advantage of the great outdoors. This club takes various 2, 3, or 4 day trips to do activities such as white water rafting, swimming with manatees, skiing, backpacking, ocean kayaking mountain biking, etc…

Titan Club:

Is a wonderful organization that incorporates current Trinity students with visiting students that show an interest in future attendance at Trinity. This is a wonderful opportunity for prospective students to not only learn about the school from a pier’s perspective but also gives them an opportunity to make new friends before the first day of school.  This allows new students to feel less awkward and is rewarding for the current student.  This club usually meets in the gym after chapel.  Many schools visit Trinity each year including, All Saints Episcopal Day School, Thomas Hart Academy, and St. Anthony Catholic School. Titan Club does many beneficial activities within the school like making welcoming posters that are placed in the foyers of the school, Open House and Parent Night. If you are interested in joining this club you would need to contact Coach John Wall who is the proud sponsor and director of admissions.

Interact:

Dr. Veto is the sponsor of the Interact club.  The Interact club is an organization that brings students and Trinity as a school closer to the community by participating in community service projects.  Operation Christmas Child was a big hit last year.  This was a project put together by the Interact club which was a drive for small toys and objects to be packed in a shoe box and send to less fortunate children.  This takes place in December.  In April the Interact club takes part in the refurbishing of a home that otherwise would be in bad shape along with other organizations in a collective environment known as Christmas in April.  This is a great project that has been going strong for over four years.  If you are interested in joining this club that helps by giving back to the community and provides aide to less fortunate in the Pee Dee area.

Life Smarts:

Ms. Marschel, Ms. Askins, and Ms. Adhikary are the sponsors for this club.

The Life Smarts team is an organization that annually participates in the National Consumer League Challenge. Trinity’s Life Smarts team has advanced to the National Competition each of the last four years after winning the State title.  The National Competitions have recently been in Minnesota, California, Washington D.C., Florida, and Illinois.  The club meets regularly throughout the school year to prepare for the competition and discuss consumer topics including technology, personal finance, health and safety, environment, and consumer responsibilities.
